Humanoid robots are not in our homes because robot bodies still lag far behind AI
Humanoid robots remain rare outside labs and pilot factory trials because their bodies are not yet ready for the messy,…

Google Scholar Labs helps researchers ask full questions
Google Scholar Labs lets users ask full research questions in plain English and find papers with short explanations. It may make early research easier, but it does not replace critical reading or guarantee complete coverage.
AI as “System 0” risks reducing human autonomy in decision-making
Research from Università Cattolica suggests that AI can function as “System 0,” an external thinking process that complements human intuition…
videoMeta shows Orion, AR glasses that aim to replace the phone, but they are not ready yet
Meta has revealed Orion, a working prototype of true augmented reality glasses. The device looks like normal eyewear with transparent…
AI unveils how the brain predicts thoughts and processes information
Researchers at FAU have used AI to analyze brain activity, uncovering that spontaneous brain signals (local field potentials) help predict…
Intelligence plays a greater role than experience in computer proficiency
Cognitive abilities surpass experience in predicting computer proficiency A study from Aalto University found that cognitive abilities, especially working memory…
Students who fall behind in class are using ChatGPT to catch up
A study examines how adolescents use generative AI tools like ChatGPT for schoolwork, focusing on the relationship between their use…

Google AI makes better diagnoses than human doctors
Google’s AMIE AI outperforms doctors in diagnosis and empathy in a text-based simulation, signaling a future where AI aids medical care.
AI enables first recorded 20-minute interactive exchange between humans and a humpback whale
An AI-driven study enabled a 20-minute conversation with a humpback whale named Twain. Scientists used call playback to test interspecies communication.

AI discovers millions of stable crystal structures
Google DeepMind's GNoME project combined graph neural networks with large-scale density functional theory checks to propose more than 2.2 million inorganic crystal structures that were stable in those physics-based tests relative to earlier public catalogs, including 381,000 additions on the updated stability hull for a new total near 421,000 stable crystals. Independent experimental structures in the ICSD matched 736 of the model's stable outputs. None of this guarantees cheap manufacturing or immediate devices; stability in a database is one step, and synthesis remains hard.
Neural-network “MLC” training shows human-like language skill and could surpass today’s chatbots
Researchers have developed a training procedure called Meta-learning for Compositionality (MLC) that teaches a standard transformer to combine known words…
ChadGPT: women are using AI chatbots as virtual boyfriends
AI technology can replace some positive aspects of a relationship: chatting, generating love songs, recommending restaurants. AI can replicate some aspects but face challenges in areas like social media and personal connections.
videoHeyGen AI lets anyone speak any language on video with near-perfect lip sync
HeyGen is a Los Angeles-based generative-AI start-up that turns an ordinary clip into a multilingual version where the original speaker’s…
